Win-win for all in the NAFTA resettlement

Last month, Economy Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo said that “foreign trade is not for one to lose and another to win, foreign trade is for everyone to win”, due to what has been said about modernization of the Free Trade Agreement of North America (NAFTA), especially since Donald Trump triumphed in the election for President of the United States last November.

Guajardo pointed out that modernization of the agreement that emerged in the 1900s will ensure that it is a win-win for the three countries that comprise it; However, it does not neglect the elements that create uncertainty and for this it calls for the unity of all Mexicans.

He considers that it is not possible to begin talks without having a real NAFTA valorization, which it would begin recognizing the big projects that it let build having an example in the recently inaugurated Toyota factory in Guanajuato.

The Secretary emphasized the importance of the efforts that have vision to the future in order to find the roads to advance and modernize NAFTA, underlining the idea of win-win for the US, Canada and Mexico.

The importance of these negotiations rests on the effects that may be caused in foreing trade projects. MVP Business Strategy offers you advice on various aspects of international trade, so do not hesitate to contact us.
